What We Do
The Children’s Agenda is a non-profit, local policy organization. We improve the lives of children in Monroe County by:
Initiating Solutions
The Children’s Agenda takes action to address community problems by advocating for and initiating evidence-based programs that address critical issues in Monroe County, including child abuse and neglect, early childhood development. We strive to prevent and reduce child-abuse and increase access to high quality early education and after-school care. We serve as a catalyst for solutions that work by initiating new collaborative ventures in the community, advising on program design, finding funding, and bringing key stakeholders to the table.
Analyzing Policies and Programs
The Children’s Agenda reviews national best practices in children’s welfare, studies evidence-based programs, and meets with local stakeholders in order to find initiatives that are most likely to succeed in Monroe County. Each fall, we analyze the proposed Monroe County budget to assess its impact on children and publish our findings.
Collaborating with Local Leaders
The Children’s Agenda has crafted close working relationships with local officials, service providers, and community leaders. Our presence, both on committees related to children’s issues as well as behind the scenes of policy decision-making, allows us to promote evidence-based practices in the Rochester area. |
