Today marks an important victory for Monroe County’s children. The Children’s Agenda commends County Executive Dinolfo announcing today that she will increase CPS staffing levels and improve compensation for better recruitment and retention. This is a very important and meaningful step forward in addressing the crisis of our community’s staggering reports of child abuse and neglect.

The Children’s Agenda, along with our partners in the faith community and the medical and social work professions, have vigorously advocated for lowering Monroe County’s ratio of cases to caseworkers to meet the state and national standard of no more than 12 to 1. The evidence is clear on what works to prevent these dangers, and as a community, we all have a moral duty to prevent, reduce and effectively respond to as many instances of abuse and neglect as humanly possible. We therefore applaud the County Executive for taking these important steps to ensure greater safety for all the children of Monroe County. We look forward to continuing our work with the County on this and other critically important children’s issues in our community.
